Deck cadetship
Port Authority of New South Wales offers a Deck Cadet Sponsorship Program that pairs cadets with mentors and places them on merchant ships to gain essential sea time. Cadets assist with navigation tasks, cargo operations, and routine deck maintenance, all while receiving a salary and guidance from an experienced mentor.
After completing 18 months of qualifying sea time, cadets can undertake further studies to qualify as a Deck Watchkeeper.
Traineeship program
Gain hands-on experience and industry-recognised training with a Port Authority traineeship. Our programs combine paid work and structured learning, helping you develop skills and earn qualifications.
