These charges are different in each port and are levied to all commercial vessels, including cargo and passenger vessels, piloted fishing vessels, research vessels and piloted tugs.

  • Reason for Re-entry Exemption Request
    Where a vessel departed Sydney Harbour or Port Botany because of a direction given to it by the Harbour Master or following consultation and agreement with the Harbour Master, to leave the Port due solely to either a port emergency or adverse weather conditions preventing the vessel from safely remaining in Port
    Where a vessel already within Port Botany and scheduled to transit between the Bulk Liquids Berth and a berth at Kurnell (or vice versa) is required to depart the Port due to the vessel being unable to complete its scheduled transition prior to completing its cargo operations when the Dynamic Under Keel Clearance system (DUKC) indicates there is ‘no window available’ to berth / safely remain at berth and complete cargo operations
    Where a vessel already within Port Botany and scheduled to transit between the Bulk Liquids Berth and a berth at Kurnell (or vice versa) is required to depart the Port due to the vessel being unable to complete its scheduled transition because of an inability to meet the pilotage parameters at Kurnell set out in the current Harbour Master Directions.
    Where a vessel re-enters a port solely to facilitate the disembarkation of a person on board the vessel on urgent medical grounds. To be eligible, it must be demonstrated to Port Authority’s satisfaction that:
    • the re-entry could not have been otherwise reasonably mitigated or avoided by or on behalf of the vessel;
    • the re-entry was not connected with, or used for, even incidentally, any other operational or commercial purpose by the vessel, including any non-medical disembarkation, cargo operations, repairs, lay-up, bunkering, stores, crew change or other planned or incidental activity; and
    • the vessel departed the Port as soon as reasonably practicable after the medical disembarkation or transfer was completed.
    Required for vessel that are unable to re-enter Sydney Harbour or Port Botany post 24hrs from berths time of departure due to safety, in line with Categories A, B, C or D of the Navigation Services Charge Re-Entry Exemption Criteria.
    Maximum 3 files. 10 MB limit. Allowed types: txt, rtf, pdf, doc, docx, odt, ppt, pptx, odp, xls, xlsx, ods. 20 MB limit per form.
