New data shows Port Authority of NSW’s 12-month-old website has delivered faster access to critical port and safety information, with users racking up 2.5 million page views and 1.8 million visits as demand grows for shipping, cruise and safety information.
Supporting 24/7 operations across NSW’s six major ports, the website provides real time trade and cruise vessel movements, Harbour Master directions and essential safety updated to keep trade and cruise tourism moving safely and communities informed.
Port Authority of NSW CEO John McKenna said its website is a core operational and public information channel, relied on daily by mariners, port users, government agencies, cruise passengers and communities living near busy working ports.
"The first year performance data confirms the redevelopment is delivering stronger engagement across critical operational and community content,” Mr McKenna said.
“In the past 12 months we’ve seen strong growth in the content people rely on most, with cruising schedule engagement up 10% and vessel movement views growing by 8.3%.”
“This level of usage reinforces the website’s role in keeping ports operating safely and communities informed. By redesigning the website around real user needs based on extensive surveying, we’ve made it easier for people to quickly find the information they need and want.”
“As part of the redesign, we also integrated a new community engagement platform allowing our port community members to take part in consultation sessions, share feedback through online polls and easily access clear, visual information – helping communities better understand what’s happening in their port.”
Since launch in 2025, Port Authority’s new website has recorded:
- 2.5 million page views as demand grows for port and maritime safety information
- 1.8 million sessions from 618,000 users showing strong and sustained public use
- User engagement up across the site, with pages per user up 12.4%
- Community content views up 98%, and tripled across community consultation hub
- Daily vessel movement page views up 8.25%, supporting real-time maritime awareness
- Strong interest in maritime heritage content, with views up 71.5%
- High growth of venue and visitor information up 13.5%
- 94% of users said they were easily able to find the information they were looking for
- Net Promoter Score of 56.4 reflecting strong user feedback, considered excellent against global benchmarks.
Twelve months on, the focus remains on continuous improvement to ensure the site remains reliable, accessible and focused on the information people need most to support safe, efficient ports open to the world.
