Port Authority of NSW is celebrating The Banksia Foundation’s recent announcement after they were named a finalist for the 2022 NSW Sustainability Awards.
Port Authority of NSW’s CEO Philip Holliday said it is an honour to be in the line up for the prestigious award amongst such high calibre organisations, all passionate about sustainability.
“When our staff are empowered to create a Sustainability Plan that is then embedded into the very fibre of our organisation – anything becomes possible!” Mr Holliday said.
“For Port Authority of NSW, our journey towards sustainability over the last 2 years has led to significant changes well beyond our own business, including initiatives that range from ethical and fair procurement, to major projects that are a first for Australia, others a first for the Southern Hemisphere and the World.
“Being named a finalist in the NSW Sustainability Awards is recognition we are on the right path and I am incredibly proud of the people in our modest corporation that are making this our reality every day in their work.”
Port Authority is a finalist for the Large Business Transformation Award, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in sustainability including commencing a world-first 100% renewable energy Shore Power project in the Bays West precinct.
Operating in all six commercial ports across NSW, Port Authority is uniquely placed to drive positive change in the maritime and shipping sector of NSW.
For a State Owned Corporation to successfully embed sustainability into the very fabric of their operations while also committing to industry and nation leading initiatives deserves recognition.
The NSW Sustainability Awards recognise and promote the trailblazers from circular transition to net zero action to our State’s young climate champions. Entrants are diverse and working in many different fields, and they share a drive to create a more sustainable future.
The 2022 NSW Sustainability Awards are proudly supported by the NSW Government and are regarded as the most prestigious and longest-running in Australia and the world.
The winners will be announced at the Award Presentation on the 25th of October.
