P&O Cruises’ Pacific Explorer will make the three calls on March 29, May 10 and May 17, bringing over 6000 cruise tourists into the Sapphire Coast town.

Eden has become a popular destination on Australia’s cruise map and had 22 ships scheduled to visit over the 2019–2020 cruise season. Threeof these cruise calls had to be cancelled due to the bushfires — a blow to the region’s tourism industry.

State Member for Bega and Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said “our region has been rocked to its core and we need people now more than ever to visit. The additional cruise ships into Eden port will be a great support to local and surrounding businesses and I am grateful for the commitment by P&O Cruises. This will provide an economic injection that many of our local businesses certainly need at this time.”

Port Authority CEO Philip Holliday said, “Port Authority is pleased to be working with Carnival & P&O Cruises to support increased cruise visitation to Port of Eden”.

In September, the Pacific Explorer was the first ship to berth at the new Eden Cruise Wharf, while recently, Port Authority announced plans for a new welcome centre to greet up to 100,000 visiting cruise passengers each year.
