Port Authority of NSW proudly hosted the inaugural Safe and Efficient Port Operations Forum for Sydney Harbour and Port Botany yesterday (17 August 2023). The forum was attended by 120 delegates that represented port users, port service providers, industry regulators and maritime industry partners.
Port Authority’s Chief Operating Officer, John Finch said the forum included a range of presentations covering various topics of interest delivered by a number of port stakeholders.
“Our vision for this forum was to bring our diverse port community together to collaborate on, and share professional expertise thereby building a safer, efficient more sustainable future for NSW’s $100 billion industry,” Mr Finch said.
“Port operations are a collaborative effort, and no port can run without the contribution of those from all across the industry; including terminals, line services, towage, shipping lines, safety authorities, weather services and logistic operators.”
“The forum focussed on the operational safety and efficiency performance for Sydney Harbour and Port Botany for the 2022 and 2023 financial years.”
Port Authority’s Chief Operating Officer, John Finch added the content also included presentations on technological advances and key sustainability initiatives being led by Port Authority across our Ports as well as Q&A sessions.
“Given the support and interest shown by port stakeholders for this forum, Port Authority will look to hosting an expanded version of this initiative in 2024 which will cover the wider scope of operations of our Ports across the state,” Mr Finch said.
