Throughout Financial Year 2025, Port Authority continued its pivotal role in supporting the NSW economy, maintaining the safe and efficient operation, delivering essential maritime services, and advancing our commitment to sustainability and community partnerships.
The year in numbers
Maritime operations
We safely welcomed 5,530 commercial vessels across NSW’s ports, supported by 10,198 pilotage movements. Our Vessel Traffic Services team operated 24/7 managing 872 marine incidents, while our specialist response crews responded to 314 emergency incidents, including pollution response, towage, firefighting and medical emergencies.
Cruise
Port Authority remained central to the growth of cruise in NSW. Sydney hosted 275 visits from 40 different ships, while regional cruising stayed strong with 9 calls to Newcastle, and 25 to Eden - including 12 maiden visits and one of the world’s largest cruise ships.
Sustainability
We continued to advance our climate commitments, achieving a 53% gross reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and progressing key initiatives such as the Vessel Emission Reduction Program and EV Transition Plan. Our leadership in sustainability was recognised through Silver Partner status in the NSW Sustainability Advantage and Green Marine program certification.
Community
Our inaugural Community Grants Program received 87 applications, with 9 organisations selected for initiatives that promote sustainability, improve wellbeing, and strengthen ties across the communities we operate in.
